Mole and Vole Control
in Columbus, Akron, Cleveland, Ohio and surrounding areas
Want to help protect your lawn from the root up? If you notice soil tracks across your yard, you may have to start with mole or vole control. These pests track through your yard, disrupting grass roots along the way.
Identifying Moles & Voles
While these pests’ names sound the same, methods of controlling them are different. This is why it’s important to correctly identify which pest you’re dealing with.
- Voles: look like mice; leave no mounds in the ground; visible runways near the surface of soil made from eating grass blades and constant traffic
- Moles: larger than voles; pointed snout; paddle-like front clawed paws; volcano-like mounds; visible, raised runways
Not only are mole holes and raised tunnels unsightly, but they kill the root system of your yard and plants in the process. Moles are the ones who make them in their search for food: grubs, insects, and worms. While moles are always around, you’ll notice them more in the spring and fall when the dirt is more malleable after long periods of rain. This is also the easiest time to stop them in their tracks.
Mole and Vole Control
One of the best ways to help control the mole population in your yard is to eliminate their favorite food source: grubs. If limiting the number of grubs in your lawn doesn’t do the trick, other baits and traps could work to help deter and remove them. If you still find yourself with a mole or vole problem, call in the professionals.
